Meet Dr. Katherine Martin

BA, BSc (Hons), PhD, Dip. Yogic Sciences

I have always had a strong connection with nature and at university I studied various sciences to learn more about the secrets behind the structure and function of living organisms. I then went on to complete a PhD in plant physiology, during which I had a series of realisations about the nature of life and how everything is a divine embodiment of sacred geometry.

After a few life-changing events, I became interested in the relationship between the mental, emotional and physical bodies, and how yoga could address the root causes of illness. Over the next 20 years, I deepened my exploration of various eastern and western philosophies, esoteric teachings, yogic physiology and psychology, nutrition and supplementation, and other healing modalities including vibrational medicine (especially light and sound).

Years later I decided to formalise my intimate knowledge of yoga with a two-year Diploma in Yogic Studies, the most comprehensive teacher-training course on offer. I studied Japanese Buddhism in Japan and am also an initiate of Tibetan Buddhism. The wisdom and insight gained from these practices complement my teaching style.

The Yoga Classes

In the classes, I draw on my broad knowledge of science and eastern practices to deliver a holistic service that empowers you to take charge of your own health and well-being. I am empathetic and caring, and the priority is to provide a welcoming and healing environment where you will feel nurtured and safe. I am mindful that people have a diverse range of abilities and I factor this in to my classes, which are tailored to the collective needs of the students.

At the heart of my offering is the creation of individualised programs that draw on a unique combination of practices to meet your specific needs. Together we work with the body’s own innate intelligence to integrate the mind, body and spirit.
